John Hancock Announces Various Rate Improvements on New & Inforce Policies

At John Hancock, we are proud of our record of delivering exceptional policy performance for our customers. Our strong investment capabilities are at the core of this continued success. Effective March 1, 2023, the following adjustments will take place on new and inforce policies:

  • Crediting rates will increase by 10 basis points on new and inforce Protection UL and Protection SUL policies

  • Fixed account rates will increase by 20 basis points on Indexed UL and certain Variable UL products

  • The participation rate will increase by 5% for Indexed UL Barclays Global MA accounts

  • Crediting rates will decrease by 10-20 basis points on certain inforce products

  • The declared rate will increase by 15 basis points on Performance LTC

Important Dates

  • Beginning March 1, 2023, new rates will be reflected on annual statements. Policyholders may request inforce illustrations that reflect this change prior to receiving their annual statement. New rates that are increasing will be reflected on all platforms. New rates that are decreasing will be reflected on February 6, 2023.

  • The first segment reflecting the new Barclays account participation rates will be initiated on the March 15, 2023 segment (March 10, 2023 lock-in date). The last segment using the old rates will be February 15, 2023 (February 10, 2023 lock-in date).
